When Islamist gain power, they simply do not let go as was demonstrated most recently in Iran - and who could possibly believe that the Taliban would have relinquished power by elections. There will be no elections in the near future in Gaza. Not only will Hamas oppose elections, but Iran also has too much invested in Hamas to risk losing at the polls. Its hard to generate any pity for people that voted for their own destruction. In other words, the Palestinian got what they deserved.
